Networking Events |
- Business After Hours - Held two or three times a
year, Business After Hours is a networking event, which may include Chamber
announcements. Usually sponsored by a local business, the Chamber encourages
the exchange of business cards and ideas.
- Quarterly Membership Meetings - Held quarterly, to
include the annual banquet in January, others in April, July, and October.
This dinner meeting features speakers and/or subjects such as economic
development, tourism, legislature, finance, and political forums. The annual
dinner meeting features entertainment, awards presentation and new board
induction.
Procedures for investigating issues that affect Harris
County’s economic development and quality of life have been established by
the Chamber of Commerce. The Issue Review procedure and Issue Investigation
form are available to chamber members. The Executive Board reviews all
submissions and takes appropriate action.

Partners In Education
In 1991 and 1992, the Chamber worked to put local business together
with the Harris County Schools. The following is a list of partners and
their adopted school. |

Youth Leadership Program |
The Chamber, working with the Board of Education and the
local Georgia Extension Service, helps to develop and organize the Youth
Leadership Program for sophomores and juniors attending Harris County High
School. Offered on even years, next class in 2008.

The Valley Partnership Joint
Development Authority
A six-county regional economic development organization
and Phenix City, AL |
The purpose of the Valley Partnership Joint
Development Authority is to create a pro-business environment that attracts
and expands business thus creating new jobs and capital investment. The
Partnership allows the counties to pull together resources and benefit from
specialized incentives. The counties of the Partnership are Chattahoochee,
Harris, Marion, Muscogee, Talbot and Taylor. The cities are West Point and
Manchester.

Business Referral Service |
Members’ products and services are now being listed on a
cross-referenced database to enable the chamber office to quickly identify and
refer member businesses to a potential customer.

Harris County
Community Profile |
Members receive a free copy of the Harris
County Community Profile which includes an annual membership directory insert.
The Profile is also used in newcomer packages and business recruiting
packages. Non-members may purchase a copy of the membership directory insert
for $10.

Chamber News |
The monthly newsletter of the Harris County Chamber of
Commerce provides timely information on upcoming events and coverage of past
events that affect our lives and businesses. Members enjoy inexpensive
advertising rates.
The Chamber offers free links to business members’ web
sites. All members are offered reasonable advertising rates.

Newcomer Packages |
This package is offered free to any new resident of Harris
County. It includes a Harris County at a Glance brochure, and a series of
seven flyers which give listings on utilities, post offices, newspapers,
banks, real estate, insurance, medical, education, voting districts and local
government offices and phone numbers. It also includes an annual report from
the Harris County School System, a real estate newspaper, as well as a current
copy of the local newspaper.

The Harris County Map |
Published exclusively by the Chamber, members
receive a free copy. Maps are sold at the Chamber office for $3.00. If
purchased in bulk of 50 or more, they are $1.50 each.
 |
Membership Certificates |
Members may request a certificate of membership each year
the membership is renewed. Certificates are 8" x 10" and fit a
standard document frame.
